Re:       Bb Collaborate Recordings Clean Up

As Collaborate users know, the University of Toronto has a retention policy in place for Collaborate Ultra recordings that were saved to temporary cloud storage. Because of our pivot to remote teaching during the pandemic, we temporarily suspended the automatic deletion of older materials.

To get us back on track, as of June 30, 2021, all Collaborate recordings saved in the Collaborate cloud prior to May 1, 2021 will be automatically deleted. Recordings made during the summer 2021 semester will not be auto-deleted at this time.

For example, there may be cases where an instructor wishes to re-use a past recording in an upcoming course. To do so, they will need to download the original recording to their local machine and then upload it to a streaming or sharing service of their choosing (as was always the case).

For instructions on saving a copy of their recording made prior to May 1, 2021, Collaborate users can find all the instructions on downloading, and streaming, on our support site.

In order to help with the process, we have added additional temporary staff between now and June 30 who can assist Collaborate users with these tasks. Please feel free to reach out to your own divisional educational technology office to initiate a support request.

Thank you
